In this report, BMO’s analysts evaluate the North American data centre build opportunity from the lens of our industrial, infrastructure, and real estate companies. Estimates call for trillions of capital to be spent over the next 10 years on data centre development across North America, driven by an estimated ~200 GW of demand. While the largest pool of spend remains compute hardware, the more relevant opportunity is the enabling infrastructure, including on-site energy, engineering, construction, component sales, and real estate. While growth should continue in the U.S., Canada now sits at the forefront given growing political support, optimal location, and abundance of natural gas to power the grid.
